Tourism Ireland brought a touch of Irish Halloween magic to Germany and Belgium this week, promoting the island as a must-visit autumn destination to around 70 prominent tour operators, travel agents, and journalists. As part of Tourism Ireland’s seasonal campaign, the events showcased Halloween as a unique and iconic time to experience the island, spotlighting its deep-rooted traditions and festive attractions.
Nine tourism partners from across Ireland joined the promotional events in Munich and Ghent, offering immersive presentations on the Púca Festival and Derry Halloween—two renowned celebrations that bring the island’s Halloween heritage to life. Guests had ample opportunities to network with Irish tourism representatives, gaining insights into the island’s autumn experiences.
The gatherings added an authentic taste of Ireland, with Munich guests treated to a whiskey tasting from The Dublin Liberties Distillery, while attendees in Ghent enjoyed the seasonal flavors of traditional Irish barmbrack. Both events featured captivating performances by the Armagh Rhymers, a celebrated traditional Irish group, enhancing the cultural connection and leaving a memorable impression on the audience.
Nadine Lehmann, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Germany, said:“Tourism Ireland was delighted that around 70 tour operators, travel agents and journalists have taken the time to come and meet with our partners from the island of Ireland in Munich and Ghent this week, to find out more about our Halloween festivals and superb autumn offerings.
“Promoting off-season festivals and events like Halloween is a key element of Tourism Ireland’s strategy to spread the tourism season and attract potential visitors to come throughout the year. In the same way that St Patrick’s Day acts as an anchor for early spring visits, Halloween can provide an authentic ‘must visit’ reason to enjoy a trip to the island of Ireland in mid-autumn.”
